Tracie O. Afifi
Associate Professor, University of Manitoba
Dr. Tracie Afifi is a professor in community health sciences and psychiatry at the University of Manitoba. She is also a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Childhood Adversity and Resilience. Her work has informed health policy and legislative changes at the national and international levels.
Dr. Afifi’s primary research interests are in the areas of child maltreatment and mental health with a focus on resilience, intervention and prevention. She has published over 150 peer-reviewed journal publications and has over 150 conference presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Afifi is also an associate editor of Child Abuse & Neglect.
Dr. Afifi’s work has generated global media attention, including CNN, Headline News, CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, CBC, CTV, Global TV, Canada AM, TIME, USA Today, Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Globe and Mail.
