John Torres

John Torres is NBC News/MSNBC senior medical correspondent and an emergency room physician. Torres’s reporting covers a wide range of health-related issues across all of NBC’s broadcast, cable, and digital platforms; he has been covering the coronavirus pandemic since its beginning. A graduate of the Air Force Academy, he is a veteran of the United States Air Force with a 2004 tour of duty in Iraq. Torres has contributed to rescue efforts out of the South Pole and after hurricanes Katrina and Rita and has made numerous humanitarian trips to Central and South America, providing medical care to children in need. He authored the recent book Dr. Disaster’s Guide to Surviving Everything. Combining his medical and military experience, Torres also teaches NATO Special Forces.
