Janice Agazio

Associate Professor, The Catholic University of America

Dr. Janice Agazio is currently Associate Dean, the Director of the PhD and DNP programs at The Catholic University of America in the School of Nursing and an Ordinary Professor. She retired from active duty in the Army Nurse Corps after twenty-two years of service following her assignment as Assistant Chief of Nursing Research Service at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She has specialized in pediatric nursing and is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Her research includes issues related to military nursing care delivery and impact of military life upon families. Dr. Agazio is active in nursing professional organizations currently serving as a Director, on the board for Sigma Theta Tau International and as representative to the CANS National Advisory Council and Nursing Research Roundtable; Treasurer, ANA Membership Assembly representative, and Chair of the Continuing Education Approval Committee for the Maryland Nurses Association, and in her second term as Secretary for the Southern Nursing Research Society. She is active in accreditation serving on the Accreditation Review Committee for second term, on the nominating committee, and as a team leader and site visitor for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In support of research dissemination, she co-chairs the Washington Regional Nursing Research Consortium and is also a co-chair for the Family Research Interest Group for the Triservice Nursing Research Program. She is an active reviewer for nursing journals, and other grant and abstract review committees. Her publications and presentations have primarily related to her research on Korean-American families, technology-dependent children and their families, health promotion in working mothers; virtual reality simulation in education, and stress of hospitalization for children. She provides consultation in qualitative methodologies; and quantitative descriptive, correlational, and experimental research designs.
